LABOR DAY OBSERVANCE: Labor Day, as a legal holiday, was observed throughout Iowa for the first time. A big picnic was held in Horseshoe grove out by the Floyd in the east part of the city. FANCY FOUNTAINS: The first of the new drinking fountains has arrived and it is a handsome bronze affair, seven feet high, and is contrived for the accommodation of men and dogs. Six other fountains also ordered by the City of Sioux City are on their way. TIME FOR PARTIES: Mr. and Mrs. Higman treated a number of their friends to a very enjoyable outing in the shape of a picnic by tally-ho to Homer, Neb. Misses Edith and Kathleen Webb, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Webb of Sioux City, gave a large and enjoyable party to about fifty of their little girl friends as a double birthday party. LIQUOR ARRESTS: "Kokomo" Jimmie Walsh's place at 1124 Fourth street was raided after midnight Saturday by patrolman Edward Becker and his squad. Walsh is charged with illegal sale of intoxicating liquor and disturbing the peace.
