Palacios also said as of right now the main focus are the most inundated areas. “We understand that there are flood waters in personal property, we understand all that but we have to start with the highest priority and density of population and areas that need emergency assistance,” he said. The county will work with all the other areas as soon as possible and will be working around the clock to help residents of Hidalgo County. As for the City of Edinburg Fire Chief Shawn Snider said last night the city was in a joint effort with the Edinburg School District, the Red Cross and the county to provide assistance to residents on the east side of town. The City of Edinburg's emergency center was activated last night. Or simply dial 911. There were over 80 rescues conducted inside the city limits due to flooding conditions and were located to their families or the Red Cross Shelter. The shelter is located at the East Baptist Church at 201 E. Samano Rd. As for outside the city limits there were about 50 people rescued close to Tower Road and Minnesota Road. Water pumping will be going on through out the city to help the sewer collection system.
