Driver survives St. Louis County train collision but dies later of other causes - STLtoday.com
LOUIS COUNTY • A man whose car ran off Interstate 270 and into the path of a train on Saturday suffered injuries in the crash but subsequently died of unrelated causes, the Missouri Highway Patrol said. Patrol Corporal Juston Wheetley said Abernathy's condition originally was listed as serious but that he died about 9:30 p. m. Saturday at St. Louis University Hospital of what family members said were medical problems unrelated to the crash. Wheetley said the train conductor saw the 2005 Chrysler Sebring on the tracks and was able to slow to about 12 mph before the impact. Source: www.stltoday.com
