• Thieves stole two unlocked bicycles, a women's 10-speed gray and purple bicycle valued at $140 and a women's gray 26-inch bicycle valued at $75, between 9:45 a. m. and 12:30 p. m. Aug. • Vandals shattered the rear driver's-side window between 9 p. m. Aug. 31 on a 2008 Mercedes S63 in an apartment lot on the 2100 block of South Goebbert Road. • Thieves stole four hubcaps between 11 p. m. Aug. • Burglars tried but failed to break into a home on the 600 block of East Algonquin Road between noon and 10 p. m. Aug. The offenders shattered a glass sliding door and damaged the front door knob. • Thieves stole a men's silver bicycle with a black front rim and silver rear rim between Aug. Value was estimated at $275. Mount Prospect • Vandals set two portable toilets on fire around 10 p. m. Aug. 23 near a baseball diamond in Meadows Park, 1401 W. Gregory St. Damage was estimated at $1,300. • Burglars stole an I-PASS, UPS hat and loose change between 6 p. m. Aug. Value was estimated at $44. • A man was seen on a security video taking an unlocked silver bicycle valued at $200 from a bike rack in front of the Mount Prospect Public Library, 10 S. Emerson St. , between 4 and 4:30 p. m. Aug. The man left the black bicycle in the rack and took the victim's bike. • Burglars stole a copper pipe, brass doorknobs, and a master lock between 11 p. m.
