Woman & boy killed, 3 injured in Highway 99 crash - KRCRTV.COM

A woman and 10 year old boy were killed Friday night when a pickup blew a tire on Highway 99 in Tehama County, causing their pickup to slam into a tree. Three other people, including the driver and two 6 year old children, were injured in the crash that happened just after 9 p. m. Friday on Highway 99E in the Dairyville area just east of Red Bluff. According to a news release from the CHP, the driver, 34 year old Andrew Wellemeyer of Marysville was northbound in his 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup. Investigators said Wellemeyer was driving approximately 55 miles per hour when the right front tire of the pickup blew, causing the vehicle to veer off the right side of the road into a walnut orchard. The 34 year old female passenger in the right front seat and the 10 year old boy in the right rear seat were killed in the collision. Wellemeyer and a 6 year old girl in the front seat both suffered major injures and were taken by helicopter to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. A 6 year old boy in the left rear seat also suffered major injures and was taken the Mercy Medical Center by ambulance. Source: www.krcrtv.com
