Dr. Steven J. Adamowski selected as Norwalk's new Superintendent of Schools - Thehour.com
The appointment of Adamowski is subject to approval by the school board during its meeting on Tuesday, June 16. Adamowski will begin his term as superintendent on July 15, according to school officials. “I think that Norwalk has all the challenges of a city needing to provide better schools for all children and closing the achievement gap, which is what I have devoted my life and career to for the past 30 years,” Adamowski told The Hour Friday. We have a strong strategic plan, and now we have a strong implementer with a proven track record of making reform plans work. “We are very excited that Dr. Adamowski has agreed to join us in Norwalk to keep the Norwalk schools’ long-term reform plan moving forward,” said Lyons. Adamowski most recently served as Special Master with the Connecticut State Department of Education. “In my work as state Special Master with the state Department of Education, I’ve had probably more general knowledge of Connecticut school districts than I did when I was superintendent in Hartford or Cincinnati. I feel like I know some of the issues in Norwalk beforehand,” said Adamowski. Source: www.thehour.com
