OELWEIN | Officers fired at Abel Quijas Jr. when he allegedly attempted to run them over during a September drug investigation, according to court records. Quijas, a 33-year-old former California resident who was living in Maynard, is charged with attempted murder in the incident and remains in jail with bond set at $500,000. Officials earlier disclosed Quijas was treated for a gunshot wound... Court records filed recently state the officers opened fire on a grey 1999 Chrysler 300M that Quijas used as a weapon when police approached him about a package of suspected drugs he had just picked up in Oelwein. “The subject entered the vehicle and attempted to run over the officer with the vehicle.
