I live in Canada and own a 2014 Dodge Journey. Where can I buy a scan tool and learn how to use it. I find that although upkeep is supposed to be easier with these diagnostic tools, the costs of maintaining my vehicle are generally higher than ever. A: A large number of auto parts stores offer free scan tool diagnostic testing. I checked online and found that Auto Value, Auto Zone and AAMCO stores — just to name a few — offer this free service in Canada. If you want to buy your own tool, though, you can do as I recently did and purchase one on eBay for — get this — less than $10. The scan tool I purchased comes with several versions of software and the on-board diagnostic connector hardware that... But remember this: A scan tool, whether at the dealership, auto parts store or in your hand, cannot repair or keep your car in “safe working condition. ” This tool can only identify fault codes that provide a starting point for diagnostics and repair.
