SAN FRANCISCO -- An adult man was fatally hit by a train after he was walking illegally along Caltrain tracks Friday afternoon in San Francisco, officials said. The man, who has not been identified, was on the tracks illegally, Bartholomew said. However, she said it was unclear why he was on the tracks. The train has stopped in the southbound tunnel and paramedics and train crews were working to get the train moved. The highest number of fatalities recorded by Caltrain was 20 in 1995. On Tuesday, a 61-year-old San Bruno man, also walking illegally on the Caltrain tracks in San Bruno, was hit by a train. "The investigation into the cause of this incident is ongoing, but no matter what the circumstances, it is always regrettable when a life is lost," Bartholomew said in a news release.
