Bay City woman pleads guilty to felony in purse-snatching from 70-year-old - MLive.com

BAY CITY, MI — Stealing a purse from a 70-year-old woman at a local Meijer store is likely to land a Bay City woman in prison. The charge stems from an incident that occurred the afternoon of Sunday, March 22, when police responded to the Meijer store at 595 N. Pine Road in Bay County's Hampton Township for an unarmed robbery complaint. A 70-year-old Unionville woman told police she was putting groceries on a conveyor belt in the checkout lane and was being helped in her task by a woman behind her. The Unionville woman had her purse in her shopping cart, she told officers, according to court records. "The next thing I know, the lady took my purse, and she was headed for the door," the woman said. "I yelled for someone to stop her, and I was yelling that she took my purse. The woman eventually handed over the purloined purse, though it no longer contained $75 in cash that previously had been in it, the Unionville woman told police. The alleged purse-snatcher then left Meijer in a 1995 purple Dodge Intrepid, court records show. A short time later, Michigan State Police troopers stopped the Intrepid in Saginaw County. Ayers told officers that she was at the Hampton Township Meijer to cash a check, but left when she started having a panic attack. Source: www.mlive.com
