MADISONVILLE, Ky. (9/1/15) — A Madisonville man was charged with possession of methamphetamine and synthetic drugs after police made a traffic stop for failure to illuminate license plate. According to a Madisonville Police report, Officer Justin Jones observed a 1998 Dodge Dakota headed south on Grapevine Road, which made a left turn onto Oakdale Avenue, at about 12:19 a. m. Tuesday, Sept. The vehicle's rear license was not illuminated and Jones made a traffic stop. The report said Jones believed the driver, Marshall Gibson , was heavily under the influence of intoxicants. After Gibson failed field sobriety tests, he was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs – first offense. Subsequently, Gibson also was charged with rear license not illuminated, DUI, failure to produce insurance card, first-degree possession of methamphetamine, possession of synthetic drugs and drug paraphernalia – buy/possess.
