'Speak Up,' says law enforcement, in new effort to halt drunk driving - Worthington Daily Globe
Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota law enforcement officials are joining together with others to launch a tri-state impaired driving enforcement effort. Bruce Verdoes explained why the three states are coming together for a common cause by combining resources. “We’re developing partnerships across our borders to work on the same commonality — the problem with people being impaired while they drive,” Verdoes said. “Seat-belt enforcement goes hand-in-hand with DWI patrols, and with the primary seat-belt law, officers will use their ability to stop a motorist for a seat-belt violation to their advantage in their effort to take impaired drivers off the roads... “This law is especially meaningful as a vast majority of these impaired drivers killed in crashes are also not belted.
