Seven people have been arrested by township police as part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, aimed at looking for impaired drivers, that runs through Labor Day. According to police, around 3:51 a. m. Monday, a single-vehicle crash resulted in the arrest of Shane Griffin, 21, of Milltown, for allegedly driving under the influence. Griffin was driving a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer on Georges Road near Crossroads North Middle School when he ran off the road, struck a utility pole and a mailbox, police said. He was arrested by Officer Jamal Benbow and processed for allegedly driving under the influence. On Saturday, four people visiting from Canada were injured after their vehicle was rear ended around 4 a. m. by an alleged drunk driver. Police said Evan Tschabold, 20, of East Brunswick, was driving a 2007 Mazda on Route 1 North near the Dow Jones Co. when he crashed into a Dodge Caravan carrying the Canadians. Tschabold had allegedly been drinking, police said. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.
