Two vehicle thefts were reported last week, police said. According to police reports, a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan was reported stolen July 27 from the area of Main Street and Inyo. Police said a 2010 Chevy Aveo was reported stolen July 28 from the parking lot of Dollar General. According to police reports the victim, an employee of the store, noticed that her keys were missing from her purse and subsequently discovered that her vehicle was gone. Store surveillance showed a male entering the break room and then leaving the store, police said. Police said a vehicle, garage door and garbage container at a home in the 600 block of Sweet Gum were tagged with graffiti in an incident reported July 27. No damage estimate was listed. Police said miscellaneous tools valued at $360 were reported stolen Aug. Police said a woman was approached by an individual in the area of Main and Tulare on July 30 who asked to use her cell phone to arrange for a ride. The woman complied, police said, but when asked to return the phone, the man instead fled and could not be located. Newman police received 89 calls for service, reported 92 officer-initiated incidents, handled 28 cases, made 11 arrests and issued 30 traffic citations from July 27-Aug. Gustine police said Mark D.
