2 hospitalized in 5-vehicle wreck near S.W. 21st and Washburn - Topeka Capital Journal
A five-vehicle accident occurred just west of S. W. 21st and Washburn on Thursday morning in the eastbound lanes on 21st, and two people were transported to a local hospital by American Medical Response ambulance with injuries not believed to be... The crash was reported at 11:25 a. m. Thursday, and the damaged vehicles were in both eastbound lanes. Officials on scene said traffic was either slowed or coming to a stop when a maroon over silver GMC Sierra pickup truck side-swiped a bluish-green Ford F-150 pickup truck. After it side-swiped the Ford, it ran into the back of a red Dodge Grand Caravan, which then started a chain reaction. The Caravan bumped a white four-door Honda Accord, and the Accord bumped a green four-door Nissan Sentra. One person from the Sentra and one person from the Accord went to St. Francis Hospital. The farthest vehicle to the west in the right eastbound lane was the F-150 pickup. The next vehicle, which was straddling the right and left eastbound lane, was the GMC Sierra. It suffered the worst damage, having major front-end damage and a cracked window. The Accord came to rest up against the Sentra, which was closest to the major intersection — about a 100 feet west of Washburn Ave. Source: cjonline.com
