Knoxville FBI releases vehicle description in hostage bank robberies - WBIR-TV

On Wednesday, the FBI released information about the car seen in the area of the SmartBank robbery. Previous: FBI releases sketches related to Knoxville hostage bank robberies. The vehicle is described as an early 2000s, powder blue/grey, Ford Taurus, with damage on the front passenger-side bumper. The FBI reports a person of interest was seen inside the car on July 1, near the house where six days later, a SmartBank employee and his family was kidnapped and forced to remove money from the bank and give it to the robbers. The FBI is investigating to see if the July incident is related to a similar robbery on April 28. In the first robbery, a Y-12 Federal Credit Union employee and his family were kidnapped and held hostage at gunpoint. While the family was held hostage, the employee was coerced to remove money from the bank in Oak Ridge and give it to his captors. The masked man and woman were seen at the scene of the first robbery on April 28. The man has a distinctive orange sunburst tattoo on his neck, which is outlined with black and blue ink.
