Four men arrested for running counterfeit ring - WAFF

Madison County deputies arrested four men during a traffic stop August 17 for running a counterfeit money ring. Michael Salomonsky with the Madison County Sheriff's Office said the traffic stop happened on Highway 53 at Blake Bottom Road when they stopped a 2005 Ford Taurus. Salomonsky said it was one of the largest counterfeit rings he's seen since he's been working in Madison County. Salmonsky said the counterfeit ring was running on the I-65 corridor from Madison County to Cullman all the way down to Mobile, up to southern Mississippi, and along the I-85 corridor in Columbus and Shelbyville as well as DeKalb County. He said the counterfeit money has been dispersed to several businesses. As for business owners, Salomonsky said to be very cautious. Salmonsky said it's hard to reproduce paper printed by government, and there are several ways for business owners to tell the difference like duplicated serial numbers or bills with serial numbers in sequential order. He said businesses like Family Dollar, Dollar General, and fast food restaurants are targeted because money moves fast due to the high volume of traffic coming in and out. Source: www.waff.com
