There was something familiar about the disheveled man Mary Spencer passed on the street a few months ago. This week, police appealed to the public for help in locating the 53-year-old Jeffries, who friends say went missing June 10. Joe Clark, a good friend, said Jeffries has battled addictions with drugs and alcohol for years. He was often seen wandering around downtown or grabbing a cup of coffee at the Street Help Homeless Centre on Wyandotte. “I’m really scared,” said Clark, who has known Jeffries for more than 25 years. I’m out hard looking for him because he’d do it for me. ”. Years ago, Clark’s mother and Jeffries lived together for about a dozen years. “I’m holding some money for him which I do because he knows it’s safe and he can get it any time he needs it,” Clark said.
