Ford New Zealand boss Corey Holter missed out on an office morning tea shout of doughnuts on Tuesday - but he didn't really care. That's because he was in Australia, secure not only in the knowledge that the Ranger ute had just finished a record sales month, but also happy to listen to glowing media praise for a facelifted Focus hatch that is about to go on sale in New Zealand. The doughnuts shout at Ford NZ headquarters was to celebrate a 6 per cent year-on-year rise in Ford sales for August, with the Ranger contributing a record 738 sales to the total of 1227 Ford retails. Meanwhile Holter was in Adelaide with members of the New Zealand motoring press, attending the Asia-Pacific media launch of the latest Thailand-built Focus hatch. Focus had completed its runout prior to arrival of the new model, and we were still waiting on arrival of some Mondeo models. Focus will soon be launched, the Mondeos are here, the arrival of our new Everest SUV is imminent, Kuga sales are picking up, and we've got the new Mustang due in a couple of months. A notable feature of Ford's year so far has been that Ranger has accounted for around two-thirds of total sales, and while Holter admitted this has been a concern, he added he liked to see the success of Ranger as a Ford strength that can be built...
