Teen bicyclist reports hit and run - Goshen News
Jacob Blanco, 17, Goshen, told Goshen police he was in the 400 block of Maple Court at 7:30 a. m. and riding his bike northbound. He told police a blue Chevy with a black female driver stopped in the street with its left turn signal on facing north. Blanco said the car wasn’t turning left so he allegedly passed on the left, when the vehicle turned and struck him. The driver asked him if he was alright and then the car turned right onto Hickory Place. A 2009 Ford Fusion driven by Alexander Herrin, 25, LaGrange, was ticketed by Elkhart County police for following too closely after rear ending the semi. A 1999 Dodge Dakota driven by Dylan Rodgers, 19, Elkhart, was in the left turn lane on U. S. 33 to make a left turn into Wal-Mart at the traffic light. He reportedly collided with a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by Dean Hartman, 82, Fairfax, Iowa, who was making a right turn onto C. R. 17. The force of the crash caused Rodgers to collide with a utility pole. According to Goshen police, a 2004 Chevrolet CK 1500 pickup driven by Keith Nickerson Jr. , 37, Bremen, was at a slow rate of speed and veered across the oncoming lane into a grassy area before striking a utility pole owned by NIPSCO.
