Pair of prep football coaches leave prominent programs for fresh starts - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
At West Allis Central, Andress, a running back and linebacker, learns the ropes from a new staff led by Keith Ringelberg, the former Greendale offensive coordinator who helped the Panthers win a number of conference titles and reach the state... At Grafton, Kettenhoven, the team's quarterback, is getting an up-close look at Fritz Rauch, the former Homestead defensive coordinator who helped the Highlanders win four state titles. The coaches' résumés scream of achievement, but so far the biggest accomplishment in their new jobs is unquantifiable. "It does not feel like years past. "I feel like he came in and really got our football team out there because in past years nobody wanted to play," Andress said of Ringelberg. "He built a hype around our football team and now everyone wants to come out and play. Sixteen schools in the area have new coaches this year, but it can be argued that Ringelberg and Rauch have more in common than most. Both spent at least two decades at their former school and were so entrenched that it was hard to think they would leave. More on that later, but first what would make men who were part of two of the area's biggest winners leave for teams that have been at or near the bottom of their respective conferences for the past decade.
