Family of Injured Boy Asks Driver: "Please Turn Yourself In" - WFMY News 2

WALKERTOWN, NC- The family of a one-year-old boy, who is in critical condition after a car crash, is begging the person(s) responsible to do the right thing. On Sunday, August 30th, the Roten family was driving on NC66, near Jackie Lane in Walkertown, when an unknown vehicle crossed the center lane into the path of their Ford F-350. Andrew Roten swerved to miss hitting the car head-on. Inside at the time of the crash were Andrew, Heather and their two little boys, 3-year-old Stewart and 16-month-old Mason. We've been in a wreck and we can't get Andrew and Mason out," said Mason's grand-father, Chris Leupold. Chris said his son-in-law and grand-child were stuck in the truck for almost 40 minutes, before EMS was finally able to free them. Mason has been in critical condition for two days at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital. Now, we just have his little lifeless body, and we can't do anything but tell him we love him and we get no response. Mason's aunt, Elizabeth Roten, said she has stayed by his bedside and urged the tiny child to come back to her. The family said they will continue to pray for a full recovery and that the person responsible for causing the crash comes forward. State troopers have very little information on the car, except that it is a black four-door passenger car. Source: www.wfmynews2.com
