A 21-year-old man was killed Sunday when the sportbike he was riding collided with an SUV on the Angeles Crest Highway -- east of Mount Wilson in the Angeles National Forest, authorities said. The rider -- identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as Jeffrey Yamato of Alta Loma -- was headed east aboard a 2013 Yamaha R6 about 8:15 a. m. at mile marker 36. 89 east of Red Box Junction, according to the California Highway Patrol. For unknown reasons, the bike crossed the double yellow lines into the path of an oncoming 2001 GMC Yukon XL driven by a 40-year-old Hanford man, the CHP reported. The Yukon driver and a woman and three children who were passengers in the SUV were unhurt, according to the CHP.
