Mother and daughter remembered - CBS 8 San Diego

The best of friends, and beloved San Diego veterinarians. On Friday, family and friends stopped to remember Diane and Katie Defenbaugh who were killed earlier this month in a tragic head-on crash. Friday's memorial service was held just one block away from where Dr. Diane Defenbaugh had worked as a devoted veterinarian for decades. Friday's celebration of both women's lives left no doubt that both women were beloved. They were best friends," said Mark Sauer, a family friend. Last Thursday morning, 63-year-old Diane Defenbaugh and her daughter Katie were heading to SeaWorld on Highway 125 to celebrate Katie's 29th birthday. A 27-year-old Spring Valley man driving a GMC Yukon in the opposite direction crossed the center divider and collided head-on with the woman. At Friday's service, Diane Defenbaugh was celebrated as a staple of the community for 35-years. Her daughter, Katie, had followed her mother's footsteps and had recently finished vet school. Katie Defenbaugh had recently graduated from UC Davis Vet School in 2013, and was working as a veterinarian at Banfield Pet Hospital in Chula Vista. Both will be laid to rest together in Chicago where Diane grew up. Family of Diane and Katie Defenbaugh have asked that in lieu of flowers,. Source: www.cbs8.com
