MORRISTOWN — A Superior Court judge on Friday dismissed a gun-possession charge against former New York Jets running back Mike Goodson. Although Goodson was not in court, Judge James DeMarzo in Morristown dismissed the charge against him immediately after sentencing Goodson's friend and co-defendant, Garant Evans, 33, of Elizabeth, to five years in prison. The tide turned in the case when Evans pleaded guilty in the case in May and said Goodson did not know a gun was in the rented SUV when police searched it on May 17, 2013. The sentencing of Evans and the dismissal of the charge against Goodson put a sudden end to the more than two-year-old case that put Goodson's football career on hold for more than a year. The pair were arrested after the GMC Yukon rented by Goodson but driven by Evans was found stopped in the left-center lane of Route 80 west in Denville at 3:30 a. m.
