Man dies in crash close to I-85 repair work near Hillsborough - WNCN
The two vehicles involved were a 1987 Chevrolet Utility truck and a 2011 GMC Terrain, which were both traveling North on I-85 in the right lane when traffic began to slow because of a lane closure from construction work. The Chevrolet utility truck slowed and was struck in the rear by the GMC Terrain, troopers said. The driver of the GMC Terrain died at the scene and has been identified as Julius Edward Ellen, age 76, of Bexley Farms Court, Va. , according to officials, who added that his next of kin has been notified. Troopers said that traffic in the area was slowing because of a guardrail repair crew that was working north of the crash location and had closed the left lane to perform the maintenance work.
