Flowers and a cross mark the spot of a Saturday collision at Highway 154 and the Roblar Avenue intersection that resulted in the death of Austin Troy Bartoo. A 25-year old Santa Ynez man involved in a traffic collision Saturday on Highway 154 at Roblar Avenue in Santa Ynez, has died in the hospital from his injuries, according to sources close to the family. Friends said they are shocked and surprised by the death of Austin Troy Bartoo, a former personal trainer who came from a tight-knit Santa Ynez family. “Austin was a stand-up guy – just really into fitness always helping other people at All Sport Fitness. “My oldest son Cameron had just said he had coffee with Austin last week, and now he’s gone,” Madera said. Bartoo was driving a 2007 Cadillac CTS eastbound on Highway 154 about 9:55 p. m. Saturday when he turned left at Roblar Avenue into the path of an oncoming 2002 GMC Savana 15-passenger van traveling about 65 mph, CHP officials said. CHP officials said Bartoo was not wearing safety belts, and suffered major injuries in the crash before being transported by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, according to sources.
