The challenge is designed as a community-service endeavor to promote school spirit, heighten awareness about the charity all-star game between recently graduated seniors from Middlesex and Union counties and to raise money for the game's two... Several mascots who have already committed to take part in the challenge joined players and cheerleaders from participating schools during a press conference at North Brunswick High School on Monday night. Mascots from East Brunswick, Edison, J. P. Stevens, Middlesex, North Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Wardlaw-Hartridge and Woodbridge have already committed to partake in the challenge (schools without football programs are invited to participate). Marcus Borden, founder and director of the Snapple Bowl, which will be contested this year at Kean University on July 16 at 7 p. m. , said he plans to expand the Mascot Challenge to include Union County schools next summer. In addition to participating in the challenge, mascots will attend the Middlesex County squad's annual charity visit to the Lakeview School and the Snapple Bowl banquet at the Pines Manor in Edison.
