Edward Schlumbrecht, 52, of Metairie, was arrested and accused of firing several shots and taking several people hostage early Saturday inside the Turtle Lounge in the 8000 block of Karen Street in Metairie, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office... Schlumbrecht was booked on 18 counts of attempted murder, 18 counts of false imprisonment, 18 counts of aggravated assault, one count of illegal discharge of a weapon and one count of possession of a firearm in an alcohol beverage outlet. The Sheriff’s Office said Schlumbrecht walked into the Turtle Lounge armed with an AK-47 assault weapon, a. 40-caliber semi-automatic handgun and a. 38-caliber Derringer.
