Family, Friends, Strangers Come to Aid of Airman after Car Totaled - Military.com

LAND O' LAKES -- Matt Feldhouse has learned that people who hit your vehicle on Interstate 275 won't always stop to see if you're OK -- and that he can count on friends and family in times of need. A master sergeant in the U. S. Air Force , Feldhouse was driving home from work at MacDill Air Force Base on Aug. 10 about 10:45 p. m. when he was rear-ended by a speeder on the interstate, sending his prized Honda Prelude spinning into the woods, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. The Prelude, which underwent about $30,000 worth of upgrades when Feldhouse returned home from a tour of Afghanistan in 2013, was totaled. The crash left Feldhouse, his wife and 17-year-old son with one vehicle, but, as when the Prelude was on blocks and needed repairs, friends and family are trying to help. In addition, Bill Cohen, who owns N-41 Bingo on North Nebraska Avenue in Tampa, has offered to help Feldhouse with a loan for a down payment on a new or used vehicle. "One of my workers deals with car auctions and just got my son a wonderful car this past weekend," Cohen said. "He and his wife have been bingo players at the hall for quite some time, and he's been to the Middle East eight or nine times, which I'm very proud of. He's an awfully nice guy. This week, the gofundme account established by brother Nick Feldhouse had raised more than $1,100. The account is at www. Source: www.military.com
