The upcoming premium hatchback Baleno like its sibling S-Cross, will be sold through NEXA showrooms. The Baleno will be pitted against Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo in the segment. Baleno previously codenamed YRA, will be sold as a premium hatchback. Maruti has been selling Swift in this segment, but now they will pitch Baleno above Swift in the premium hatchback segment. Maruti is expected to unveil the car in Germany in the Auto Show next month. It is anticipated that YRA will hit European markets in 2016 summer and will be launched in the Indian market a few months later. Maruti Baleno which was a sedan earlier, was launched somewhere in 1999 and did not receive that well by the Indian customers and was replaced by Maruti SX4.
