Don't Let Honda's Insight I Go the Way of GM's EV1 - EV World

Last Autumn, my wife and I sold our much-loved 2000 Honda Insight. The very original Insight, the first year, the one rated at 70 mpg highway (before they diluted the engine algorithm for 2001). It hurt to see it go. But we had wrestled with the two-seater limitations for half a decade since our little daughter... When we priced our vehicle for sale, we had a shock. We could find only four competing Insight 1 vehicles listed for sale in the United States west of the Rocky Mountains. 17,000 of the two-seater Insights appear to have been sold worldwide, spanning 7 model years from 2000-2006. But a preponderance were built in 2001. Energy crisis and market demand triggered a one-time production surge that year. These vehicles are now 13 years old. They are Hondas and built for reliability. It is time for the vehicle community to act now, while there is still a substantial number of decent vehicles and parts left, to prevent the Insight 1 from going the way of the EV-1. As is famously known, after an orgy of intentional demolition by... No organization is scheming to put the Insight 1 into a crusher. Source: www.evworld.com
