Passenger killed in Groton rollover crash identified - Ithaca Journal

The victim in a rollover crash in Groton early Sunday morning has been identified by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office as 18-year-old Brianna D. Copes of McGraw. At about 3:42 a. m. Sunday, four people were traveling south on Cortland/McLean Road in Groton in a Hyundai Tiburon when the vehicle left the road and rolled over several times before coming to rest on an embankment on the east shoulder of the road. Copes, who was seated in the rear seat of the car, was ejected from the vehicle and killed, the sheriff’s office reported Sunday morning. The driver, who has not been identified, has been treated and released, according to Lt. Daniel Donahue of the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the incident along with the New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit. Source: www.ithacajournal.com
