LAS CRUCES >. >. Food trucks and mobile food vendors may find out Monday whether they are allowed back in Mesilla. In late March the Mesilla Board of Trustees enacted a 120-day moratorium on food trucks and mobile food vendors to enable the board and town officials to review town policies regarding those operations. Two weeks ago, trustees and members of the Mesilla Planning, Zoning and Historical Appropriateness Commission met in a work session to discuss a proposed ordinance that would apply to "itinerant and temporary vendors. " The proposed ordinance was also discussed at a planning and zoning commission meeting conducted Monday at Mesilla Town Hall. Other concerns, such as regulating parking, narrow town streets that could possibly create hazardous liability for the town, and the use of "sandwich signs" by mobile food vendors were also discussed and debated by trustees and planning and zoning... Also at Monday's meeting, trustees will consider allowing the Marshals Department to submit an application to the New Mexico Finance Authority seeking $78,234 to purchase two Dodge Chargers and a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck for the Marshals...
