Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe Review - NDTVAuto.com

So it is clear that Mercedes-Benz needed a vehicle like it in its line up. Audi is working on a one too - we know this - but Mercedes is now ready with the GLE Coupé. I'm sure Mercedes-Benz would also like to sell a few hundred thousand units of this one too. And now that it is here, I have to say that it is definitely a more well-proportioned and better looking than the X6. The GLE Coupé almost looks like a cross-sedan at first glance, doesn't it. The rear is trying a bit too hard to be in line with... The car with me was the 450 AMG, but not the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupé (which also exists in the line-up). This meant AMG trim, but not an AMG powerplant. And given that the Coupé will get to India only as a niche offering that will be directly imported, I see merit in the AMG trim line being standard for India. The 9-speed gearbox is something new from Mercedes-Benz and it was on the Coupé that I was getting a chance to experience it for the first time. The reason why Mercedes has gone from the 7G-tronic to the 9G-tronic is to have a greater flexibility for the different kinds of engine it's going to be playing with, across segments, going forward. And it is also to cater to the kind of consumer preferences for those different engines, and the different driving habits of those consumers too. Source: auto.ndtv.com
