Mizzou's Penton arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession - STLtoday.com

COLUMBIA, Mo. • Missouri starting cornerback Aarion Penton was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of marijuana possession. Penton, 20, was cited for possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor, at 1:40 a. m. on the MU campus in the area of Virginia Avenue and Rollins Street, according to the Columbia Police arrest log. Penton was also arrested on suspicion of the same offense March 15 in Columbia along with a teammate and two Mizzou basketball players, but online court records indicate they were never convicted. Penton has started all nine games for Mizzou and leads the team with 10 passes defended on three interceptions and seven breakups. He made two starts last year as a freshman and intercepted a pass against Florida in his first career start. If Penton doesn’t start against the Aggies, sophomore John Gibson figures to be the leading candidate to join the starting lineup. Gibson started the season’s first three games opposite Penton until he was replaced by junior Kenya Dennis for the last six games. The Tigers (7-2, 4-1 SEC) will already be without starting strong safety Braylon Webb for the first half at Texas A&M. Webb was flagged for targeting and ejected in the fourth quarter of Mizzou’s win over Kentucky last Saturday. Source: www.stltoday.com
