Local man dies in accident - Dodge City Daily Globe

A 20-year-old Dodge City man died in a one-vehicle accident on the 1600 block of west McArtor Road at approximately 2:24 a. m. Tuesday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Luis Felipe Carrillo-Munoz was driving a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon eastbound on McArtor when the vehicle left the roadway, slid through a ditch and became partially airborne striking a power pole. The vehicle then became airborne again and struck another power pole and tree. Carrillo-Munoz, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, according to the report. In an effort to deter unsafe driving, the Dodge City Police Department will be conducting a Driving Under the Influence saturation patrol during the late evening hours of Aug. "On average we pick up six DUIs when we conduct the patrols or check lanes," Francis said. "Drunk driving is not worth it. If you don't value your own life, think of the lives you may take or drastically impact. Since 2013, the police department makes from 100 to 200 DUI arrests within its jurisdiction each year.
