Fiat Chrysler recalling 322000 Dodge cars for air bags - The Detroit News

Washington — Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV said Saturday it is recalling 322,000 cars worldwide to prevent unintended side-curtain air bag deployments after recalling about 844,000 trucks last week for the same issue. Fiat Chrysler said it is aware of three potentially related minor injuries and 25 complaints of problems but no crashes. The new recall covers the 2011-2014 Dodge Charger cars including 284,000 in the United States, 13,000 in Canada, 2,500 in Mexico and 22,000 outside North America. Last week’s recall covered 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups. Fiat Chrysler said in May it investigated whether there were problems with the Dodge Challenger and Chrysler 300, but said its probe found those cars have unique air bag calibrations and don’t need safety recalls. Separately, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Saturday it is opening a separate investigation into 2. 8 million radios built by Harman Kardon International for possible hacking concerns — after Fiat Chrysler last month... NHTSA previously said it was investigating whether Fiat Chrysler’s recall fix worked and if it impacted other vehicles from other manufacturers. Source: www.detroitnews.com
