Statler previously was being held at Northampton County Prison in lieu of $65,000 after allegedly eluding Wilson Borough police in the December chase, which included speeding and running through stop signs. A state police investigation at the Dublin barracks led to the identification of Statler as the driver, according to police. While Officer Kyle Wene was conducting a standard security search of inmates at the Northampton County Prison shortly before 3 p. m. July 17, he reported bags of drugs falling out of Statler's shorts, court records filed by police say. The drugs included seven wax packets of heroin, 1. 5 to 2 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag and 3 grams of cocaine in a plastic bag.
