MLB notes: KC's Gordon hurt, could be sidelined for months - STLtoday.com

Gordon was racing back on Logan Forsythe’s fly ball in the fourth inning when his left leg twisted gruesomely. He collapsed to the ground and lay there as Forsythe rounded the bases for an inside-the-park homer. Gordon eventually was lifted onto a cart and driven off the field, his head covered by a towel. Gordon is a key cog in the lineup for the American League Central Division-leading Royals. Gordon, a left fielder, fell less than 24 hours after one of his best days as a Royal. The field was officially announced Wednesday for the contest, to be held Monday night in Cincinnati — where the All-Star Game will be held the following night. Unlike previous years, in which total home runs in the first round determined who advanced, all competition this year will be head-to-head. Pujols is to face Cubs rookie Bryant in the opening session. The Frazier-Fielder winner faces Donaldson or Rizzo. The Bryant-Pujols winner goes against Pederson or Machado. It will be the fourth time Pujols has participated in the contest, but he has not won. Entering Wednesday’s play, Pujols had 25 homers to lead the American League. “I enjoy it,” Pujols, a 10-time All-Star, told the Los Angeles Times. Source: www.stltoday.com
