ALEA State Troopers identified the deceased as James Column Thompson, a 28-year-old from Stone Mountain, GA. The 2009 Hyndai Accent he was driving collided head-on with a 2009 Nissan Rogue. The driver of the Rogue, 23-year-old Daniel Wayne Studdard, of Piedmont, was airlifted to UAB Hospital.
