Man arrested after demanding cash from bank for 'taking down terrorists' - Kingsport Times News

ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County man who allegedly demanded cash from tellers at a Rogersville bank Tuesday for “money owed to him for taking down terrorists” was charged with attempted robbery. Shortly after noon Tuesday Derrick Dalton Goins, 22, of Rogersville, went to the U. S. Bank on Rt. 66S in Rogersville and allegedly demanded money owed to him by the Secret Service. Goins had departed the bank in a white Ford Ranger by the time Rogersville police arrived, but he was located and stopped on McKinney Chapel Road near the Rt. 66S intersection by RPD Officer George Henry. On May 21 of this year Goins was charged with indecent exposure and assault on an officer on after Hawkins County deputies reportedly spotted him walking naked across the Hugh B. Day Bridge on Rt. 66S just south of Rogersville. Goins allegedly offered to shake hands with a deputy, and when the deputy declined the offer, Goins allegedly attempted to punch the deputy. He is scheduled to appear in Hawkins County Sessions Court on those charges on Sept 2. RPD Chief Doug Nelson said Goins didn’t seem to be under the influence of any intoxicants Tuesday. “He said we should contact the CIA and they can tell us all about it,” Nelson said. “He said, ‘I told them (at the bank) you can just give me my money, and you can call the police and tell them I robbed you’.
