Deputies: Homeowner fired shots that killed man trying to break into home - KAKE

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office now says the homeowner fired the shots that killed a man who was apparently trying to break into his residence. Cody Reid, 27, of Wichita was shot and killed outside a home in the 7800 block of South Broadway on the afternoon of December 29. The 57-year-old man who lives there originally told deputies that a man had tried to break into his residence through... He then said he heard shots and saw the man laying outside. After the shooting, deputies began searching for Reid's car, as well as a dark-colored sedan the homeowner said left the scene. Sedgwick County Sheriff's Captain Gregory Pollock now said the resident fired the shots that killed Reid. Deputies still believe Reid was trying to break into the home before he was shot. Investigators are still trying to determine if Reid may be connected to previous burglary cases in Haysville, Derby and Andover. Previous story - December 30, 2014:.
