The Mercedes-Benz CLS is based on the E Class sedan. Exterior tweaks include Mercedes’ new “diamond” grill, restyled headlights and a new rear bumper. Painted in elegant Tenorite Grey Metallic, my tester drew more than its fair share of admiring glances. As is the case with all premium Swabian hardware, you’re not getting away with just the base price. The $5,950 Premium package could be considered mandatory, adding such “necessities” as heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, proximity key with push button start, adaptive headlights, upgraded Harman/Kardon audio and surround view camera,... This tester also sported the $1,500 Sport Package that includes stronger brakes, 5-spoke AMG 18-inch wheels, a sports suspension and a multi-contour driver’s seat with inflatable bolsters and massage. Front and centre is the new-for-2015 infotainment screen that perches atop the centre console. Perhaps not the most elegant solution, but surely the simplest for adding a big screen to a car’s cabin. It wasn’t that many years ago when the default description for a Mercedes-Benz sedan’s dynamics would include, “good ride, stodgy handling, dull and slow steering. Source: www.thestar.com

Mercedes-Benz Recalls 2013-2015 E-Class, CLS-Class Models For Fire Risk - The Car Connection

According to a bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a number of vehicles from the luxury automaker's E-Class and CLS-Class lines suffer from a design flaw that could create a fire hazard in the engine compartment. In documents posted to NHTSA's website, the problem stems from a rubber seal manufactured by Veritas AG in Germany. Unfortunately, Veritas made some design changes to the seal, which has created problems:. "Due to a cosmetic design change of the rubber seal used on the affected vehicles, the confirmation of the correct mounting and proper securing of the seal during assembly became more difficult. In the event the rubber seal is not properly secured to the secondary bulkhead, it is possible for the seal to temporarily adhere to the engine hood when the hood is opened.
