A: Most times when I see this kind of problem it ends up being an open diode in the alternator. When the diode, which only allows electricity to flow one way, goes bad, the alternator will start to produce an alternating current. When this does happen, it makes very strange things happen in your car, and a telltale sign is exactly what you just talked about. I took it for an oil change and asked the mechanic when I could change the timing belt. I spoke with another mechanic who told me I didn’t need to change the timing belt unless the car was before 2002. I’m confused. Q: I was wondering if you could clarify an old wives’ tale for me. I was told that you should never pull into a gas station for fuel when you see the delivery truck dumping gas into the underground tanks. The 66th season of Formula 1 will kick-off in Australia on 15 March 2015 with new rules, teams, cars and drivers. Manufacturers are already unveiling their new cars that will be powering their drivers around the tracks. As is the case year after year the FIA is tightening the rules to make sure manufacturers and drivers are being pushed to their limits. But what's new that will change the way the races go in 2015. With a drop in engine size in the past car noise and speed was affected, some say for the worse. The F1 2015 cars The F1 regulations mean engines are limited to 1. 6-litre turbocharged V6 with a rev limit of 15,000rpm and a maximum fuel flow of 100kg per hour. But more has changed this year meaning that the cars are different. Honda will be returning to McLaren for the first time since 1992 when it used to supply engines to the team. This year Honda will provide a V6 engine with Energy Recovery System package. Honda previously worked with British American Racing and Jordan Grand Prix as engine provider. The new McLaren-Honda will be called MP4-30 and feature a carbon-composite body with slimmed rear, revised nose and new powertrain. It will feature the Honda RA615H engine. Auckland, 6 July, 2015 – The Honda Torneo could be considered the unluckiest car in the country, after topping the most frequently stolen car list for the fourth consecutive year, according to AA Insurance. “It’s not that there are more Honda Torneos on the road than any other car,” said Amelia Macandrew, Customer Relations Manager, AA Insurance. The Top 10 list, which is based on AA Insurance’s own claims data, shows the Subaru Impreza also remains a target, despite being bumped to third place by the Mazda Familia.
