Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling 206,668 2014 Jeep Cherokee SUVs because of a defect that could cause windshield wipers to stop working. The company said it discovered the defect, in which static might build up in the wipers when they are used in dry conditions, during a company investigation. FCA will notify affected Cherokee drivers to schedule the repair. This is the sixth recall issued for the 2014 Cherokee. The vehicle was unveiled in late 2013. — A class-action lawsuit accuses Fiat Chrysler of manufacturing the 2014 Jeep Cherokee with transmission problems that cannot be fixed. The Jeep Cherokee transmission lawsuit was filed by New Jersey plaintiff Stacy Oquendo, who bought her 2014 Cherokee in April 2014. The plaintiff claims the Cherokee transmissions are so riddled with problems that Jeep dealers have no idea how to... The lawsuit alleges Fiat Chrysler delayed the launch of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee to keep working on the new transmissions, then quickly had to issue two technical service bulletins to dealers. The 9-speed transmissions have caused Cherokee owners to keep complaining about delayed shifting, lurching, banging and jumping movements. Some owners claim the transmissions finally died and when Chrysler provided replacement vehicles, those transmissions also experienced the same problems. Less then 2 weeks after the update my transmission DIED (car totally stopped working) while driving to work in rush hour traffic on Interstate 40 going 65 mph. Its been a week and I still don't have my car back, and 2 of the loaner cars they gave me (with the same transmission) BOTH did the EXACT SAME THING. Chrysler and Harman Hit With a Class Action Complaint After Jeep Hack - Wired

Last month’s Jeep hacking scandal has already been followed by a 1. 4 million vehicle recall and a well-timed Senate bill. On Tuesday three Jeep Cherokee owners filed a complaint against both Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Harman International, the maker of the Uconnect dashboard computer in millions of Chrysler vehicles. A security flaw in that cellular-connected computer served as the entry point for security researchers Chris Valasek and Charlie Miller when they showed WIRED last month that they could wirelessly hack into a 2014 Jeep over the internet to hijack... If their complaint is certified by a court as a class action, the broad spectrum of affected Chrysler vehicles means it could snowball into a case with more than a million potential plaintiffs.
