2016 Acura NSX supercar revealed - Detroit Free Press

The 2016 Acura NSX supercar today made its triumphant return after a decade, with the unveiling of the technologically advanced production car at the North American International Auto Show. Honda will start taking custom orders this summer for the two-seat sports car that was designed, developed and built in Ohio. The car will be sold globally but is expected to launch in the U. S. first. The original NSX gained a cult-like following with its powerful V6 engine and lightweight aluminum body. The relaunch brought comedian Jerry Seinfeld to the press conference today because he said he wants the first one. The 2016 NSX has a twin-turbo V6 engine but the radical technology includes three electric motors — one for each of the front wheels and a third teamed with the midship engine, making the powerful car a hybrid. The car was made longer and wider to fit the engine. Mated to the engine is a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the car has ContiSportContact performance tires and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes to make it one of the world's most advanced supercars. Production begins in Marysville, Ohio, this fall where Honda spent about $70 million to transform a former logistics center into the Honda Performance Center where parts of the car are almost hand-made by the roughly 100 employees.
