Lincoln Navigator: Improved to better compete against pricey rivals (Video) - Phoenix Business Journal (blog)

Lincoln Navigator was quite the curiosity when it debuted in 1997, but it turned out to be a pioneer in the still growing segment of luxury sport utilities. It’s still pricey, fuel hungry, ostentatious, spacious and as comfortable as living room lounge chairs. Although the Nav’s base price of $63,115 can hardly be considered a bargain, it falls at the lower end of a pack that peaks at more than 80 grand for the LX and Range Rover. That’s certainly a plus for the Lincoln, though its interior finesse and off-road capability don’t match those two. Prospective buyers should not be put off by the demise of V8 power, in fact the EcoBoost V6 comes with many benefits. Fuel economy takes a leap to 16 miles per gallon in the city, 22 highway for rear-wheel drive models, putting it at the top end of its class on that front. A redesigned exterior, updated interior and added technologies round out Navigator’s 2015 update. As before Navigator excels in comfort and roominess. It can seat up to eight, and even the third row is hospitable for adults – and surprisingly accessible if you opt for captain’s chairs in the second row. And not only is a power liftgate standard, but also the power fold-flat third row split bench. Source: www.bizjournals.com
