FOR this weeks blog I'm looking at a 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster coated in a stunning shade of AMG Alubeam Silver. Although the engine displaces 6208cc, it is marketed as the "6. 3" to commemorate Mercedes' famed 6. 3-litre M100 engine: its first production V8. Connected to that mighty engine is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic that sends all the power to... All of this allows the SLS AMG to launch from 0-100kmh in 3. 7 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its electronically limited top speed of 317kmh, or nearly 200mph. Back in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show when the hardtop SLS was launched, Mercedes-Benz claimed that the 6. 2-litre (or as they say, the 6. 3-litre) V8 in the car was the most powerful naturally aspirated engine in the world. It didn't hold the title for long, as the $2. 5-million Aston Martin One-77 soon arrived with a 559 kilowatt naturally aspirated V12. Unlike the hardtop SLS, the roadster variant doesn't feature the outrageous but extremely cool Gullwing style...
