Classic 'Vette was 3rd stolen in 7 years during Cruise - Detroit Free Press

That little red Corvette that was stolen Saturday in Birmingham during the Woodward Dream Cruise was the third 1960s vintage Vette stolen in the city during the annual event in the past seven years. In the latest theft, Clemence said the Bloomfield Township owner parked the red, 1966 convertible with the top down around 12:30 p. m. in the Park Street parking structure that's adjacent to the Palladium Building. "She even takes a photo of the car so she knows where it's parked," Clemence said. Clemence said it's possible the car left the area in an enclosed car trailer that might have been parked at the end of Willits. A 1965 blue Stingray convertible parked at a meter near the corner of Willits and Old Woodward was stolen last year. A 1966 Corvette convertible was stolen from the same spot in 2008. There were at least two other classic cars stolen this weekend during the Dream Cruise. A Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 stolen from Papa John's pizza chain was recovered this morning on Detroit's west side. A black 1966 Chevelle 300 Deluxe on a trailer, along with a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was pulling it, was reported stolen Sunday morning from outside the Kingsley Inn on Woodward Avenue in Bloomfield Hills, WDIV-TV reported.
